At last night's regular board meeting the Board of Education was presented with version three of the 2014-15 budget. A unanimous vote was passed in the first reading of the budget.

along with a Preliminary Operating Budget
The second and third reading of the budget will occur May 27 at the regular board meeting.
The Board of Education approves the plan to re-configure the catchment areas in the Belmont Zone commencing September 2015, which will result in Ecole John Stubbs Memorial School becoming a single track French Immersion school.
The decision is a part of a district wide grade reconfiguration process that will see 3,600 students in the Belmont Zone move schools in September 2015. The grade reconfiguration will free up much needed space in elementary schools and align SD62 with other districts.

On Tuesday, April 15, the Board of Education was presented with version 2 of the 2014-15 proposed budget at the Public Budget Meeting.
A third version of the budget will be presented to the board on April 22 based on the feedback we received from stakeholders on April 15.

Parents/Guardians of students who are attending or have attended Dunsmuir Middle School or who may be interested in learning more about Royal Bay Secondary are invited to attend an information session. This will be held at Dunsmuir Middle School on Monday, April 7th at 6:30 in the lunchroom.
School District 62 (Sooke) Board of Education has completed the sale of 21 acres of land, where the current Belmont Secondary School is located, to Sobeys Inc. for a future mixed-use development. The sale of this 21 acres has completed the project funding for both Royal Bay Secondary and the new Belmont Secondary schools, the majority of which was sponsored by the Ministry of Education.
