The Sooke School District, serving approximately 9200 students, is located on Southern Vancouver Island adjacent to British Columbia’s Capital City of Victoria. Communities of the school district include Sooke, Port Renfrew, Metchosin, Colwood and Langford.

Due to upcoming changes and increasing costs, bus fees for the 2015/2016 school year will increase by $25 to a total of $175 per student rider. This notice has information for families who need to pay as well as information for those who have already submitted payment.

Farewell to Belmont - Saturday, May 9


While the spirit of the school will continue to live on, the physical building will not. Alumni, students and the entire community is invited to an all-day open house on Saturday May 9th from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. to say one last goodbye to the old building.

denoument is the name given to this year’s exhibition of student artwork from the Westshore’s middle and secondary schools. The exhibition runs from May 13th to the 17th (inclusive). Please take a moment to have a look at the poster announcing this annual show.



The public budget meeting took place on March 30, 2015.  The following is the presentation reviewed at the meeting as well as a list of Quick Budget Facts.

School Calendar 2015-2016


At its March 24, 2015 meeting, the Board of Education passed the 2015-16 school calendar.  This calendar contains a two week spring break.  Spring Break will be from Monday, March 14 to Thursday, March 24.  Friday, March 25 is Good Friday and Monday, March 28 is Easter Monday.  Tuesday, March 29 is a day in lieu for the Good Friday statutory holiday.  Schools will reopen on Wednesday, March 30.  To facilitate a two week spring break, schools will continue with the additional 8 minutes of instructional time added to their schedules.   The Board wishes to thank parents, partner groups, staff and community members for their participation in the public consultation process.  Two versions of the calendar are available for viewing as follows:

Upcoming Public Budget Meetings


The Board of Education for the Sooke School District (#62) would like to invite the public to the Budget meeting set for Monday, March 30th starting at 7:00 pm at the School Board Office at 3143 Jacklin Road.  At this meeting, the District will outline its financial plan for the upcoming 2015/16 school year and will welcome comments from the public on the proposed plan.

A list of upcoming budget meetings is as follows:

  • Public Budget Meeting – March 30, 2015 – 7:00 p.m. – School Board Office
  • Review of Proposed Budget – April 14, 2015 – 7:00 p.m. – Willway Elementary School
  • Passing of the 2015-16 Budget – April 28, 2015 – 8:00 p.m. – School Board Office
