As most parents are aware, teachers across the province are currently on a legal strike. The Minister of Labour has declared teaching to be an essential service; therefore teachers’ strike actions are governed by the Labour Relations Board (LRB).

As parents and teachers, we are always trying to find ways to help our kids take on challenges and find solutions so that they can see how their resolutions help to make change.
I just came across Quest 2 Matter by Angela Maiers (also behind Choose 2 Matter). This idea and contest does exactly that- it challenges kids to find solutions to issues that can help change the world.
What a great idea & useful at the parent, teacher, school, district levels!
The name for the new high school at the Royal Bay site has been chosen! Royal Bay Secondary School brought in 46% of public votes. Read more about the naming process.
I realise haven’t posted much at all about a large department of our here in SD62. Our team in the international Schools program is so amazing and connects so well with our new students. Here are just a few photos from some of their experiences here over the past school year.

After nearly two years of full time Nature K in SD62, it’s no surprise that its popularity is spreading- even as far as Toronto! The Toronto Star sent reporter Angela Gordon all the way to Sangster to follow the Nature K students around for a couple of days.
Not only has Gordon written articles, she also features some great photos and a running series in “Star Dispatches: Why the modern classroom is moving outside”. While the Dispatches have a cost to view, there is a great lengthy excerpt available for free.
