We have changed the date of our next food day. The new date is Friday, March 16th. Please send your child with a lunch on Friday, March. 9th. Pizza Day will be on Friday March 16th. We have some eager hockey players outside at recess and lunch. We need one more outdoor hockey net for them to use. We are hoping and asking if anyone has a hockey net at home that they no longer use we would graciously accept it as a donation! Thank You So Much!

John Muir is hosting the Milnes landing floor hockey tournament.  Thanks to Ms. Vally who has motivated many students to play floor hockey we have a very strong team for the tournament this Tuesday.  A huge thanks to parent, student and teacher volunteers who will be helping to make this a great tournament.  We will be selling hotdogs and goodies as a fund raiser for PAC too.  Thanks everyone.   Also please contact your teacher if you would like to discuss your childs progress.

We have been so fortunate to have Ms. Alvira Plett in our school taking care of the kindergarten registration and looking after our students.  Thank you Ms. Plett for all your hard work and enthusiasm!  Everyone at John Muir would like to give a warm welcome to Rasheeda Haverty who will be our new School Secretary.  Please stop by the office and introduce yourself if you have a minute.  Mad Science starts this week and it is still not too late to sign up.  We continue with our busy floor hockey and Sing-Out schedule as well as plans for Valentine's day.  There is a Vancouver Island Parent conference in Victoria and our Superintendent Jim Cambridge will be presenting.  You can sign up at www.vipc.ca if you would like to attend.  The PAC is starting to plan for the big fund raiser so please join us at the next PAC meeting in February if you would like to help.  We are excited about this very popular fundraiser.  Dates have been added to the c

We are busy jumping back into the swing of school! A few reminders and updates: We have the Purple Pirate visiting us on Monday, Jan. 30th. Assemblies for students will run throughout the afternoon. The Purple Pirate promotes being active to stay healthy and fit. The Victoria Grizzlies are visiting our school on Tuesday, Jan. 31st. We will meet them in the gym and then they will go with classes to talk about the importance of reading and share a story with each class. We have our Grade 5 floor hockey team up and running. Practices are on Tuesday and Thursday at lunch and the season will culminate with a Tournament between all of Sooke's Elementary Schools. It will be held at John Muir on Tuesday, February 21st. We have drop in Floor Hockey running as well:         Grade 1&2's before school on Wednesday.         Grade 3's before school on Tuesday.         Grade 4's at lunch on Monday. Our Sin

The snow is gone.  Thanks to everyone for helping this past week.   Sing out , Floor hockey and Knitting are happening this week at school.  We hope to have fun in the sun this Friday so everyone can wear sunglasses and tacky shirts.  Kindergarten registration occurs next week at John Muir and we are starting to think about next September.  Don't forget February 17th is a PRO d. day!  Drop in and write or read something on our bulletin board near the front office.'  We have made a "What is great about John Muir" bulletin board and students have written some 'great ' things.  Thanks for making our school great! 

How wonderful to see all the white fluffy snow.  Please drive carefully as roads around John Muir seem very slippery.  Check the school district website at http://www.sd62.bc.ca/ if you are concerned about  the weather and possible school closures.  Also listen to CFAX 1070 AM for updates from SD 62 with regards to weather. Friday is FUN in the SUN day pull out your sunglasses and tacky shirts for a fun day.    Also Monday the 16 at 6:30 pm is the great PAC meeting.  Please join us for laughs and planning for the rest of the year!
