The Journey Aboriginal Education Program focuses on academic achievement. We provide academic support to Aboriginal students in classrooms, small groups, and sometimes one-on-one. We also make sure that all Aboriginal students have a sense of belonging. Michelle Nahanee, the Aboriginal Education Support Worker, provides a place to be for all students during the lunch break where homework help is available, and also First Nations craft activities take place. Journey is working on bringing more awareness of First Nations culture within the school as 17% of students have Aboriginal ancestry. For more information on District Aboriginal Department, please see district website.
Mrs Christianson is Journey's ESD/First Nations Support Teacher
Ms Nahanee is Journey's First Nations Education Assistant.
