In addition to Behaviour, Numeracy and Literacy Support Teachers, Journey has a team of Integration Support Teachers, Mrs Bridal, Mrs Arnott and Mrs Harbottle. An Integration Support Teacher acts as an advocate for students with special needs within the mainstream school system. They assist teachers to adapt and modify Ministry curriculum so that all kinds of learners can be successful in the regular classroom. Mrs Bridal also tests and refers students for District level tests that can lead to Ministry Designations. Where needed, an Integration Support Teacher will run direct interventions that target specific skills defecits. For example, Mrs Bridal runs an Essential Skills 6/7, Essential Skills 8 and Social Cognition/Emotional Intelligence Class for students who need to work on developing specific skills.
Journey also has a team of Education Assistants who are assigned to students with funded Ministry Designations. These Education Assistants work with teachers and exceptional students to support learning within the mainstream classroom as well as providing additional Life Skills support.
