Principal's Message

The Salish First Nations referred to this land as Saseenos - "sunny land sloping gently up from the sea."

Saseenos is a small school serving about 110 urban and rural students from Kindergarten to Grade 5 from the town of Sooke, East Sooke and the T’Souke Nation.  Saseenos students transition to Journey Middle School in Sooke.

Principal's Message

At Saseenos Elementary School we believe in our mission statement -  enabling students to develop their individual potential by acquiring knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to become successful participants in the world today and tomorrow.

Because Saseenos is a small school, we can involve students in many activities and closely monitor student progress and attendance.   Emphasis is on the development of social and emotional skills for positive interpersonal relationships and for positive student attitudes to learning.  Throughout our school there is an atmosphere of easy friendliness and enthusiasm that reminds students they are welcome and that learning is fun.   We are fortunate to have an expansive, modern playground funded by our Parents’ Council, a large gymnasium and two playing fields. Students feel a strong sense of belonging.

Please talk to your child’s teacher about how you can be actively involved in your child’s education.  Your questions and opinions are always welcome and we will listen to your concerns.  Please continue to check out our website.
