KINDERGARTEN INFORMATION

KINDERGARTEN PROGRAMS

We believe that your child comes to our classroom with a great deal of knowledge and many experiences to share.~ We take the time to listen and get to know your child to further the learning process together.~ We construct knowledge together discovering our surrounding world.~ While learning about the world around us, we learn our sounds and how sounds can be blended together to make words, building to pre-reading and pre-writing.~ We learn our numbers and the many skills that accompany pre-math, as well as a variety of other basic concept areas.

Emphasis is on learning through play. Play engages children's whole being.  It allows learners to project into the realm of possibility while enabling them to develop and refine current understandings as they explore, imagine, construct, discuss, plan, manipulate, problem-solve, dramatize, create, and experiment.  through play children represent their knowledge and further expleore their world.  Play should be seen as an essential experience that extends, enhances, and enriches a child's learning. (B.C. Primary Program)

We believe that parents are a child’s first teacher and we look forward to joining your educational team!

How can my child prepare for Kindergarten?

Your child is responsible for his/her belongings; can begin to print name – capital letter at the beginning, lower case for the remaining letters; has fun reading stories.

SASEENOS KINDERGARTEN

Full day Kindergarten is provided every day at Saseenos beginning September 2010.  Kindergarten registration usually occurs in February.  An orientation day for students will be scheduled in June. The children will come in small groups for the first few school days in September. This staggered entry makes the transition easier for your child and it allows us get to know your child. The children also have many opportunities to be involved with the whole school through assemblies, Christmas Concert, field trips and special activities.  The students are able to access the computer room, library and gym to enhance their program
