Michael Kusugak, Author and Storyteller - November 9th

In his story telling session, Michael uses his experiences growing up in the Far North listening to stories told by his grandmother. 
He is author of Arctic Stories, The Littlest Sled Dog, Baseball Bats for Christmas and co-author of Promises, Promises.  He has won many awards for his published stories.  We welcome Gr. 3-5 First Nations students from Poirier and John Muir schools to join our students for a one hour of storytelling.


Remembrance Day Ceremony November 10th

The ceremony will feature members of the Legion Color Party, representatives from the Armed Forces, SD 62, and the T'Souke Nation.  Students have prepared a power point, a song, a poetry reading, posters and poppy wreaths.  A student will MC the ceremony.   Family members are welcome to attend. 

Christmas Concert - Dec. 15 at 6:30 p.m.

Mad Science

Mad Science will run six after school sessions on Tuesdays
beginning Jan. 31st until March 6th.   The first 25 Kindergarten-Gr. 5 students who register will participate in hands-on learning and science discussions.  There will be take-home projects.

Guest Speaker from World Vision Canada - Donna Cino 1:15 p.m.

To enlighten our students about global issues, Donna will talk about her experiences in schools in Zambia and other African countries through World Vision.  She has interesting pictures and stories about the school children there.  We hope to have our students select a project that will reach out to touch the less fortunate children in Africa during February, the month of "heart."

All sales benefit saseenos school library! (Did you know that for every $10 you spend at the fair up to $6 goes directly back to buy more books for the library?)

See you there…and thank you, in advance, for supporting this great literary fundraiser. Mostly, thank you for believing in books and the importance reading has on your child’s future. I love books! They can take me places I’ll never get to visit or periods of time I’ll never witness. There is a great book out there waiting for you and your family.

So come to book fair to look at books and enter free draw to win $25 in books for your family + another $25 in books for your child’s classroom
