AVID means Advancement Via Individual Determination. The AVID program is intended to support grade 8 and 9 students “in the middle” who probably have the ability to go on to post secondary education (college, university, poly tech or apprenticeships) but who lack some of the pre-requisite skills. The AVID program provides rigorous academic coursework, as well as an elective where skills and strategies for success in the classroom are taught.
