Wishart School Supporters (Parent Advisory Council)
The Wishart School Supporters (aka, the PAC) would like to welcome all parents to a new school year! Whether you are new to Wishart or a returning parent, we’d like to let you know a bit about what the PAC does for your child(ren). Feel free to contact the PAC executive members listed below if you have any comments or questions.
Who are we?
Every parent/guardian is a member of the school PAC; you can attend the monthly PAC meetings to learn what’s happening at the school, or you can volunteer to help out at PAC events, or you may wish to keep in touch with PAC happenings through email. Whatever works! The PAC welcomes and values input from all parents.
What does the PAC do?
As a non-profit organization, the PAC’s job is to raise money and spend it on your children! Fundraising can include magazine/catalogue ordering, Purdys, Thrifty Smile cards, Wishart clothing sales, and bigger events like the Christmas Store, Craft Fair and the spring Fun Fair. The PAC also functions as a liaison between parent and school, so if you have a concern or a question but can’t attend the meetings, just contact a PAC member to speak on your behalf.
Where does the money go?
Funds raised through the PAC go a long way to making Wishart one of the best schools in the district. PAC funds have purchased useful technology for each classroom, including document cameras, projectors, and sound systems (to amplify teacher’s voice). As well, PAC funds help purchase sports equipment, music equipment, bussing for field trips and sporting events, the Home Reading program, and many cultural events like the Artist in Residence, author readings, and musical events (opera, etc). The PAC also offers classroom support for each teacher, with a dollar amount per student to help with the cost of supplies, field trips and other enriching activities for your child.
