Welcome back to school! Whether you are returning or joining us for the very first time, we are so glad you are part of our SD62 community.
As your Board of Education, we are here to represent the voices of our communities and to help shape the future of public education. Each Trustee may come from a different part of the district, but we all represent the district as a whole and share the same goal: supporting students in their learning, supporting staff in their important work, and involving the community as active partners in education.
This year is especially exciting because it is the first year of our new 2025–2029 Strategic Plan. Over the past two years, we worked alongside students, families, staff, unions, and community partners to create a plan that will guide us forward. Together, we focused on three big priorities:
- Learning: Building strong literacy and numeracy foundations, giving students voice and choice in how they learn, and helping them prepare for what comes next, whether that is college, trades, or the workplace.
- Engagement: Strengthening connections between schools, families, and the wider community. We want every voice to be heard and every student to feel like they belong.
- Growth: Preparing for the future by investing in safe, sustainable learning spaces, supporting before and after school care, and giving staff the tools they need to grow alongside students.
Stay Connected With Us
Our Board meetings are open to everyone and happen once a month, usually the fourth Tuesday evening. You can join in person at the Board office or online, and agendas are posted on the district website. It is a great way to see what is happening in your schools, ask questions, and learn what is on the horizon. The monthly calendar includes Board and Committee meetings that are open to the public: District Calendar.
We believe education is something we build together with students, staff, families, and the community all playing a part. We invite you to be involved, ask questions, share your voice, and celebrate learning with us.
On behalf of all of us on the Board of Education, welcome back. We look forward to seeing all the ways our students will learn, grow, and shine this year.
