The Sooke School District ensures that Aboriginal students receive a quality education that fosters a strong sense of pride, confidence and knowledge of their heritage.
Aboriginal students make up approximately 10% of students enrolled in the Sooke School District. Of these students 14% are First Nations living on Scia’new, Pacheedaht or T’Sou-ke Nations while over 86% live off reserve throughout the Sooke School District. Many of our students are self-identified (status and/or non-status) Metis or Inuit from regions across Canada. Over 889.5 students currently receive academic support and culture/language programs through our Aboriginal Education services.
