Job Description
District Position School Board Office Safe Schools   1.0 CONT Itinerant Outreach Teacher (will be based at multiple Middle and Secondary school locations). Please refer to job description attached. Position Description  This position is part of the Safe Schools Team and will provide support to students who have either been identified through Threat Assessment process or meet criteria for designation in the Moderate or Intensive Behaviour Intervention category.  The intent of the position is to provide academic , through direct intervention with students who are engaging in high-risk behavior and/or who may need support engaging with school.   Position Responsibilities  Provides academic programming  to students identified through the Threat Assessment process or meeting criteria for Moderate or Intensive Behaviour Intervention category Collaborates with Safe Schools Team and provides current updates with regards to identified students Liaises with home school for student and if needed, works to actively engage student with their home school.  This will include providing academic programming for the students until they have returned to full engagement with their home school In collaboration with Safe Schools Team, assists students and families in accessing community supports Liaises with District staff in order to support students exploring different programming options Attends District meeting; if applicable, attends SBT meetings at middle and secondary schools Assists students as part of any Student Review meetings Maintains awareness of and actively develops relationships with community-based supports related to mental health, substance use, sexual health, housing, etc.   Necessary Qualifications:  Threat Assessment Training with familiarity in DTA (Digital Threat Assessment) Experience working with at-promise youth in alternate education settings Demonstrated successful experience working with or serving as a liaison to community agencies such as MCFD, Discovery, BGC, etc. Valid driver’s license to transport students when needed ASIST or SafeTalk training would be an asset The starting annual salary for this teaching position ranges from $60,394 to $109,520 , with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.  We also offer a competitive benefits package and pension.
