Adjacent to Victoria on southern Vancouver Island, Sooke School District is the fastest growing school district on Vancouver Island and one of the fastest growing districts in British Columbia. Principal – Spencer Middle SchoolSpencer Middle School is one of the district's five Middle schools and is located on Coast Salish land in Langford and serves approximately 680 students. Our Middle School leaders are responsible for ensuring instruction is active, purposeful, and reflective of student voice and fosters a school community that is inclusive, safe, and welcoming. As an ideal candidate, you: Strive for Personal ExcellenceModel Leadership Excellence Think Critically and CreativelyUse a Systems Thinking Approach Build Relationships Cultivate Community Practice a Growth Mindset Encourage Employee Growth Effectively Communicate and Collaborate Provide a Strategic Focus And have the required education and experience noted below:Master's Degree in Educational Leadership or related area Bachelor's Degree in Education Valid BC teaching certificate or eligibility for certification Minimum of three (3) years of recent and exemplary service as a principal/vice principal, in grades 6-8 demonstrating knowledge and understanding of the unique needs and characteristics of students at the middle school level Experience leading programs and initiatives at the school and/or district levelExperience in fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion Experience incorporating Indigenous education into learning activities for all studentsExperience leading in a unionized public-school setting using the BC curriculum preferred The salary range for this full-time position is $153,453 to $161,899 per annum. Initial placement within the range is based on related education and experience.
