Sooke Community Association - Eric Michelsen Scholarship

This award is presented to a student with plans to pursue vocational training. 

Vocational training is training for a specific career or trade, excluding the professions. Vocational training focuses on practical applications of skills learned, and is generally unconcerned with theory or traditional academic skills. A large part of the education in vocational schools is hands-on training.

De Rochie Memorial Bursary

This award is presented to a deserving student who plans to attend a post-secondary institution.  This is a perpetual award donated in memory of Dougald De Rochie by his wife Gracie, a former secretary at EMCS.

Selection criteria:
1)  effort
2)  attendance
3)  school involvement
4)  academic ability

Exact amount may vary from year to year.

Cal Meyer Scholarship

This scholarship recognizes hard working and deserving students going on to further education.  

The main selection criteria are: academic achievement, community &  school involvement, and inspiring others.  

The amount of the award varies depending on the number of recipients each year.  

Financial need may be considered. 

The individual awards may range from $500 to $2000 and will depend on the funds available.

Cal Meyer was a Sooke resident who generously created an endowment fund for Edward Milne students.
