The Sooke School District Board of Education held a special in-camera meeting on the evening of April 11, 2023. At the meeting, Trustee Ravi Parmar indicated that he would be taking a leave of absence from his role as Board Chair.
Vice Chair Amanda Dowhy will fulfill the role of Interim Board Chair during his leave. Trustee Parmar will continue in his role as Trustee including attending Board and committee meetings while he pursues the election process for the MLA for the Langford-Juan de Fuca seat. The BC School Trustees Association has verified that Trustees are able to continue serving in their role on the Board while pursuing a seat in public office.
