Happy World Teachers' Day!

Date

Dear SD62,

Today we acknowledge all the teachers and teaching staff in SD62 for your dedication and passion to your profession. Since March, 2020, you have been at the frontline on an unprecedented journey; words can’t describe how fortunate and thankful we are to have you as leaders. On behalf of your Board of Education and everyone in SD62, Happy World Teachers’ Day!

Teachers and teaching staff are at the foundation of education in SD62. Together, we are here to uplift you and thank you for the great work you do each day for your students and in your classrooms. Our 12,000 students start their day today, and every day, excited to learn because of teachers like you. Your smile, enthusiasm and patience create spaces for students to be themselves, feel welcomed, and most of all, feel heard. You chose to be a teacher and your students, colleagues and families are so lucky for that.

This year’s UNESCO World Teachers’ Day focuses on supporting teachers with the theme “Teachers at the heart of education recovery.” Everyone has a large role to play in a child’s education, especially now. Thank you for creating plans and activities that grow and teach your students to be great people. You make a big difference for each, and every one of your students.

This year, we are inviting our SD62 community, staff and families to show their appreciation for our teachers. SD62 teachers make students smile each day. Let’s show them how thankful we are for that by tagging @SD62_Sooke on Twitter and using the hashtag #WorldTeachersDay.

Sincerely,

Scott Stinson, Superintendent on behalf of the SD62 staff

And

Ravi Parmar, Board Chairperson on behalf of the SD62 Board of Education
