The Sooke School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Leclerc as associate superintendent, effective Jan. 1, 2026.

Leclerc brings more than 20 years of experience in public education, with extensive leadership at both the school and district levels. She is currently the principal of Dunsmuir Middle School and has served the district in several leadership roles since joining in 2023, including vice-principal at École John Stubbs Memorial School and acting principal at Journey Middle School.

Prior to her work in Sooke, Leclerc held leadership roles with the Cowichan Valley School District, including district principal of programs for French Immersion (K–12) and Core French (Grades 5–12). She supported program development and consistent learning experiences across schools, in addition to serving as vice-principal and principal at several schools.

Leclerc holds a bachelor of education, a master of education from Vancouver Island University and a bachelor of commerce from Carleton University. She also brings valuable experience working in unionized school environments and has been actively involved with the Sooke Schools Principals and Vice-Principals Association.

“I am honoured to step into the role of associate superintendent and to continue serving the district,” said Leclerc. “I look forward to working with students, staff, families, partners and the community to strengthen schools and support student success.”

In her new role, Leclerc will provide executive leadership for the district’s 20 elementary schools, as well as oversight of the curriculum transformation department and the early learning and child care department.

The district looks forward to Leclerc’s continued leadership and contributions in her new role.
