The Board of Education wishes to advise the community that the following October 2026 committee meetings have been cancelled. Notice of these cancellations was also provided publicly by the Board at its September 28, 2026 public meeting.
Education Committee – October 6, 2026
The Board has received advance regrets from Trustees and has confirmed that quorum cannot be achieved. As a result, the Education Policy Committee meeting cannot proceed.
Resources Committee – October 13, 2026
The October 13 meeting coincides with the Sooke Parents’ Education Advisory Council (SPEAC) all-candidates forum for the Belmont Zone. Trustees who are candidates in the election are anticipated to be participating in the forum.
The Board has reviewed the work currently before the District and considered whether these meetings should be rescheduled later in October. Given the trustee, municipal and provincial election period, staff availability, trustee availability, and the timing of the final public Board meeting of the current Board, neither committee meeting will be rescheduled in October.
The Board’s meeting schedule will resume in November with:
- November 3 – Board Meeting: Oath of Office for the new Board and election of Chair, Vice-Chair and Trustee Representatives to BCPSEA and BCSTA.
- November 10 – Board Training Day
- November 17 – Resources Committee
- November 19 – Education Committee
The Board recognizes the importance of its public committee meetings as part of its governance and accountability to the community and appreciates the community’s understanding regarding these schedule changes.
