CUPE Local 459 Bursary

To apply for this bursary, you must be planning to attend a recognized post-secondary educational institution or a career/apprenticeship training program.

THE BURSARY
Each bursary will be awarded for:
 - Tuition or fees and the purchase of books, tools, or supplies needed to pursue studies or training in an apprenticeship, trade, or career program.
 - Tuition toward instruction at a recognized institution of post-secondary education or training.

Saseenos Elementary School Parent Advisory Council Scholarship

This bursary is presented to a former Saseenos student to help further their education.  

Selection criteria: 
1)   shown a clear motivation to succeed in his/her program of study
2)   The successful candidate will have proven to be above average in his/her chosen program.
3)  contributed to the social, cultural or athletic culture of the school  
4)  must have attended Saseenos for at least 3 years

Larry Alexander Memorial Bursary

This bursary is offered in honour of Larry Alexander, who was a local carpenter and started his own business in Sooke in 1967.  Mr. Alexander loved teaching others and trained many carpentry apprentices over the years.  A number of carpenters working in School District 62 were taught by Mr. Alexander.

Selection Criteria:

1) a student planning to pursue a career in the trades, especially carpentry

2) financial need may be considered

Western Foods Scholarship

Must be a Canadian student living in Canada.  Must be enrolled or expected to enroll in a post-secondary program of at least two years.  

1000 word essay plus Western Foods Scholarship Application form is required.  For details, see the application form available below.
