Governor General's Academic Medal Winners

Date

At last night’s Board meeting, we were able to recognize and celebrate the achievements of our Governor General’s Academic Medals. This Medal is awarded to the student finishing with the highest GPA in Grade 12. A common thread amongst all recipients was not only their academic achievements, but they were also recognizable leaders in their school community.

A little bit more from the winners who were able to attend the presentation:

Louisa Krusekopf

Louisa worked hard to earn top grades in a broad range of academic subjects including languages, humanities, mathematics and sciences. Louisa speaks fluent English, French and German. She is an award-winning athlete in track and climbing.

She completed a foundation year at Wesleyan University and plans on attending the University of Victoria next year to pursue Business.

Jim Wheen

One of the things that Principal Laura Fulton offered about Jim was his quiet and humble manner while consistently showing that he is gifted in almost anything he puts his mind to - whether it is academics, athletics, the arts or community pursuits. He received an astonishing 100% in a dual credit calculus course and is a top ranked mountain biker.

He will be attending the University of Victoria next year on a full scholarship and studying Engineering.

Tija Dalep

While her near perfect GPA is a testament of her work ethic, it's her heart that really captured the attention of her teachers. Tija was the EMCS Leadership point person for 10,000 Tonight and raised a record $18,000 for the Sooke Food Bank.

Tija is currently attending the University of Victoria and studying General Sciences.

Rebecca Parson

Aside from being a very strong an engaged student Rebecca is also a committed citizen of our communities, both in school and locally.  Rebecca spent a lot of time in our soccer academy and was a strong athletic representative of our school and community, reaching provincial level soccer with Juan De Fuca Association.

Rebecca is currently attending the University of Victoria studying Humanities.
