Health Updates & Reminders

Date

Dear SD62 Families,

As we return from Spring Break, we hope that everyone had a chance to rest and reconnect as a family.  We are into the last part of this unusual school year and want to take the opportunity to acknowledge the good work that each of you have been doing to keep our schools safe.  Adherence to the health and safety protocols by doing the Daily Health Check and keeping children home if sick, have had positive impacts on keeping everyone safe in our schools.

Daily Health Checks

We remind you to continue to follow the guidelines set up by public health and shared on our website here. You are doing a great job of completing the required Daily Health Check – please keep it up! Take a look at our parent handbook COVID-19 Health & Safety Information for Parents/Guardians to see what we do in schools to keep your children safe.

Whether it be a common cold or sore throat, please do not send your child to school if they are sick.

Letter from Vancouver Island COVID-19 Rapid Response Team

Read the letter here

Late last night, SD62 received the attached letter from the Vancouver Island COVID-19 Rapid Response Team. Our understanding is that it was sent much earlier in the day to the school districts who are in areas with high community exposures. Therefore, you may have seen it posted through social media or heard about the letter on the news first. This letter serves as a reminder that we all need to remain vigilant in following the health orders of Dr. Henry and, to stay home when sick.

We know you may have questions or concerns about the details in this letter. We will do our best to answer your questions, but please understand that we may not have all the answers. Questions about education – we’ve got you! When it comes to health, we take all guidance from the provincial and local health authorities.

Please continue to be cognizant of the orders set in place by the Provincial Health Authority and Dr. Henry, and ensure you are up to date with any changes that may occur.  By doing our individual parts, we can continue to keep our schools safe and healthy places.

We wish you a happy return to school and the positive feelings and sunshine that springtime brings.

Sincerely,

Scott Stinson
