Important School Bus Info

Date

Dear families,

As we get ready for the upcoming school year, we wanted to provide you with some important information. Bus routes for the 2021/2022 school year have been created and continue to undergo minor adjustments. If you haven’t downloaded the Ride 360 app yet, please do so to receive instant route updates. Details on how to download the app are listed below.

In-catchment students

Information detailing route, stop location and time has been sent to in-catchment families. If you registered and are in-catchment, but have not received route information, please contact bussing@sd62.bc.ca and include the names of your students.

For your information, there have been some inaccuracies in school-based information regarding home addresses that has caused challenges in our ability to accurately schedule routes.  Again, we ask that if you are in catchment but have not received route information, please contact us at bussing@sd62.bc.ca.

Out-of-catchment students

As you are aware, bussing is not guaranteed for students who do not attend their catchment school. All out of catchment bus requests will be looked at individually to see if there is a route that might work. Your child will be required to get to and from an existing stop. Families with students out-of-catchment will be notified in October as to whether or not there is a route that works. We apologize for the wait, but with continuing registrations and close to 4000 riders, we need the time to optimize bus routes.

Exceptions for out-of-catchment include:

  • French Immersion students;
  • Academy students;
  • Students in the TASK (Trades Awareness and Skills Knowledge) program; or
  • Students in dual credit courses.

*Please note:

  1. Catchments will resume for K-5 French Immersion in the next school year (2022/2023)
  2. If for some reason your situation, beyond those identified above, has not been addressed, please contact the Transportation Department at bussing@sd62.bc.ca

Families with two different home addresses

Students who live in two different homes will be provided bus service so long as both addresses reside in the school’s catchment. If one home is in-catchment and one is out-of-catchment, at this time only the house located in-catchment will be provided with bus service. For students with a home outside of their school catchment, we will look to see if there is an available route that will work. Notification will be sent in October. We understand that this is not ideal and we apologize for the inconvenience this will cause. We require the time so that we can place all in-catchment riders and late registrations, and continue to optimize routes.

Bus routes

Route information is now available on our website here and on the new Ride 360 app. Riders must be registered for the allocated route in order to ride.

Traversa Ride 360 App

Part of the $25 safety enhancement fee you paid when you registered your child has been put towards a program and app called Traversa Ride 360. You can download the app now and it will show you when your child has been added to a route. In real time, the app will send you optional notifications and display:

  • route #, time and bus stop;
  • any changes made to bus routes, times or stop locations;
  • how far the bus is from your stop; and
  • alerts if the bus will be delayed.

Access the Traversa Ride 360 app on:

  1. iOS/Apple - ‎Traversa Ride 360 on the App Store (apple.com)
  2. Android device: Traversa Ride 360 – Apps on Google Play
  3. Your computer: Login - Traversa Ride 360

You will first need to register and create an account. It’s very simple. Please follow instructions here.

Thank you for registering your child for the school bus. We are doing our best to maximize space on routes to accommodate as many riders as possible.
