As a result of the wildfires in Washington and Oregon, air quality ratings for the Greater Victoria region have been rated as “very high risk”. Students will be will staying inside our schools rather than being outside during instructional and non-instructional time. Students will also remain in their cohorts/learning groups.
At the advice of our local health authority, our schools will limit smoke exposure for staff and students by:
- Closing exterior doors and windows and utilizing filtered ventilation systems;
- Rescheduling outdoor activities, particularly strenuous activities like PE;
- Closely monitor students with asthma or other breathing conditions.
