A.C.E. Memorial Scholarship for Trades Students

These awards will be presented to students whose attributes, accomplishments, and activities exemplify the philosophy of a community school. Academics, school/community involvement, and volunteer work are the main criteria.
The SPVPA offers one bursary to a graduating student whose parent or grandparent is a current member of the Sooke Principals’ and Vice Principals’ Association. The student may or may not attend a school in SD 62.
Herman Rebneris was a respected member of Victoria Residential Builders Association (VRBA) and a strong advocate of education and training, skilled trades and student participation in the residential construction industry.
VRBA will recognize the commitment to those learning the carpentry trade by awarding a deserving student with a $500 cheque to buy “the tools of the trade.”
To a deserving student, who plans on pursuing post-secondary training other than a university degree.
This award is intended for students interested in careers such as: welding, mechanics, hairdressing, nurses aid, home care worker, plumber, chef, or similar post secondary careers.
Selection criteria:
1) interest in community and extra-curricular activities
2) pursuing post-secondary training other than a university degree
Victor Chen was a pillar of the Langford community and contributed greatly as Manager of Engineering for the City of Langford. He mentored many young engineers throughout their careers and encouraged them to continually question designs and ask “will it work?” and “is it maintainable?” He will best be remembered for Bear Mountain, Westhills, Colwood Corners, Langford and Westshore Parkways, Costco and most major engineering projects built in Langford between 1997 and 2017.
Selection criteria:
1) This bursary is awarded to a student with the potential to be successful in business and planning to attend post-secondary school.
2) The award is based on academic achievement
The award will be given to the recipient upon receipt of proof that the student is registered in a post-secondary program.
The Sooke Lions will present 7 bursaries to students going on to post-secondary education who have exhibited strong community and/or school involvement and may require financial help.

The Sooke Autism Support Society (SASS) Ambassador of Inclusion Scholarship is open to any graduating student at EMCS who has demonstrated an enthusiastic commitment to promoting the positive inclusion of those with special needs at home, at school and/or within the community.
