Royal Canadian Legion Branch 54 Poppy Bursaries

Selection criteria:
1)  financial need is the main criteria
2)  child, grandchild, or great grandchild of military veteran

A $1000 to $1500 bursary is available to children of veterans, grandchildren of veterans, or great grandchildren of veterans for study at any post secondary institution.  

To qualify, family income must not exceed approximately $30,000 per year.

Quest for Excellence Scholarship

40 scholarships of $1000

The Quest for Excellence Scholarship program is about recognizing students who are dedicated to their communities and driven by a passion for leadership. 

To apply for the Quest for Excellence scholarship, eligible students are invited to write and submit an online essay that is a minimum of 500 words in length, answering one of the following questions:

Public Guardian and Trustee Educational Assistance Fund

Selection criteria:
1)  financial need
2)  past marks
3)  career goals

Eligibility:
- Applicants mush be a former permanent ward of the Province of BC (e.g. foster care, youth agreement)
- be at least 19 years of age as of the date studies commence
- be a high school graduate currently enrolled or planning to enroll in a post-secondary academic, technical or vocational program

P.E.O. Star Scholarship

PEO is an organization focused on the education and support of women.  They are offering a $2500 scholarship to a current  female who plans to go on to post-secondary school.  

Selection criteria:
1)  leadership
2)  extra curricular activities
3)  community service
4)  academics

Michael Potter / Rotary Club of Victoria-Harbourside Bursary

This bursary is renewable for 4 years.  The amount varies but is expected to be around $1200 to 2000 per year.  

Each high school involved will nominate one Grade 12 student who has overcome significant hurdles or hardships in order to attend college or university.  Such hurdles or hardships may include financial difficulties, lack of family support, lack of role models, or emotional troubles. 

Medavie Scholarship

Several scholarships of $7,000 each will be awarded to youth who are living with a mental health challenge of their own or that of a family member and are pursuing health-related post-secondary studies at a recognized Canadian university or community college, and plan to pursue a career in their health-related field of studies. Each scholarship will be renewable for up to three additional years, subject to continued eligibility.
