Information

This scholarship is for a student starting training to become a Red Seal / Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician.  The student can be starting in a Trades Foundation Certificate program, or be starting in a registered apprentice program.  Students beginning their training with the work hours portion of an apprenticeship, will be able to claim the funds once registered in the Level 1 college training.

Having lost my father from war injuries I learned as a youth that a person had to work hard to achieve their goals.

At the conclusion of high school I started investigating the trades and indentured myself as an Auto Repair Apprentice in the Manitoba town in which I resided.

I began in July of 1956 and graduated with my Canada Interprovincial Auto Mechanic license in 1961.

My wife and I operated an Esso Service Station from 1965, finally selling and retiring in 1981.  To have a successful business we worked very long hours.  Our business was open every day 8am to 10pm, closing two days a year, that being Christmas and Remembrance Day.

I wish the recipient of this scholarship success in their chosen field.
